I am Portuguese by birth and Australian by choice. I knew I wanted to be a Designer since I can remember myself. I’ve spent the first years of my career testing the waters in advertising, working in post-production studios in Lisbon and Barcelona as Motion Designer. Eventually confirming that my passion was in Design, I worked for local studios in Amsterdam and Sydney. The last few years were possibly the most professionally meaningful, working in-house for a cybersecurity company. I was able to collaborate with people from all over the world and in different departments, learning how to truly nurture a brand. I believe that the best solutions come from empathy and synergy, through creative thinking, and a holistic mindset.
”Advertising may spread the word, but Design can change the world.
Don’t take my word my word for it. There’s a few examples that prove my point — from the Three Mile Island incident in 1979 to Lincoln Cars in 2015. My fav example being the Butterfly ballot, designed for the 2000 Palm Beach, Florida US Presidential Election, which ended up changing the course of history.
I believe that as designers, we have the beautiful opportunity to find solutions to wicked problems. I hope that one day I will land a role where I can help make a difference in the world.
I live by the beach on the Gold Coast, and like to go for long walks with Nala, my Jack Russell. To clear my head I do yoga, run and go for a surf when the waves aren’t too big.
